How does valet parking work?

-After you let the valet drive off to park your car, are you supposed to wait for him to come back and give you your keys? Also, does he give you some sort of receipt so that when you need the car again, you just give him the receipt so he knows which car is yours?



This is going to be at a fancy hotel.After you give the valet your keys he doesn't give them back; he keeps them and gives you a receipt or ticket. Then when you get back and need your car, you give him the receipt and he picks up your keys and goes to get your car back for you.



It could cost a certain amount or more depending on how long you parked your car. In some places valet parking is free of charge with the hotel. It's also normal to tip the valet who parked your car for you.
You give them the keys, and they should give you a slip so you can call for your car when you want to drive off. They keep the keys.
