-I am 42 year old unemployed man and have more than few questions so please bare with me.
Also I never drove a big rig before and only have Class C passenger car driver license.
(1)Which school is best near los angeles?
(2)How much does it cost to graduate?
(3)How long does it take to graduate and get a job?
(4)Does company supply the truck once I graduate?
(5)Can I drive local only?
(6)any other costs I should know about?
(7)is it easy to get a job now a days?
(8)will the school match me with a job?
(9)how much will I be expecting to make in the beginning?
(10)anything else I should know about before jumping in?If you're unemployed, you're not becoming a OTR driver.
The cost to go to school, plus lease or buy your own truck, is out of your price range.
That's the simple truth.
Edit: Yes, I was an OTR driver for 2 years. Some will supply a truck. Most won't. Why would they risk a $50,000-200,000 vehicle on a new driver?
you dont make very much, they pay by the mile about 30 cents a mile . you drive for a company and live in the truck.
Gooogle " truckers report " it a big truckers forum you learn a lot there.
But driving for a OTR company you would make about $500 a week
