Is it illegal to drive without a spare tire in CA?

-Is it illegal to drive without a spare tire in Los Angeles CA, I just want to know that, yes or no, because my truck's spare tire is old and worn and adding extra weight, and I want to take it off. So is it legal or illegal to drive without one? So what are your thoughts?i dont know if its legal but its certainly not wise to do this/the weight is worth it//costs about 2 cents every hundred miles or so/better off to loose weight yourself/also the cars that have no spares have runflat tires as standard/these tires are 300 or so apiece/need a new one (they cant be repaired) so its 3 hundred per flat/get ready
