Why is my license being suspended?

-I received my first ticket on Easter of 2011, this ticket was for failure to yield right of way. Suppose i pulled out in front of him on his motorcycle almost causing him to wreck, he had his blinker on turning onto the road i was on. Well, instead of going through court and stuff. I plead no contest on the ticket and paid it on time in person. I got a letter on July 6, 2011 saying my license is going to be suspended for 60 days for 4 or more points on my license. Can they do this? I am only 16 and i looked up Alabamas point system and it states 12 -14 points in a 2 year period for 60 day suspension....=( someone please help. i just got my first job also and id love to keep it but i cant do it if i cannot drive.....help!!!!!
